Consecutive wins at major automotive awards signal the Vietnamese EV maker’s growing credibility in India’s fast-evolving electric mobility market

VinFast Auto India has quietly marked an important milestone, securing recognition across three of the country’s most influential automotive award platforms within a single cycle. The honours—from the ACKO Drive Awards 2026, GaadiWaadi Editors’ Choice Awards 2026 and Motorscribes Auto Awards 2025—underscore how swiftly the global electric vehicle brand is finding acceptance among industry experts and evaluators in India.
At the ACKO Drive Awards 2026, the VinFast VF 7 was named Mid-Size SUV of the Year, a category closely watched as Indian families increasingly shift towards electrified SUVs. The jury highlighted the model’s balance across performance, comfort, safety and value—areas where new EV entrants often struggle to gain trust.
The VF 6, meanwhile, received the Value-for-Money Package of the Year at the GaadiWaadi Editors’ Choice Awards 2026. The recognition points to VinFast’s attempt to position itself not just as a premium EV player, but as a brand that understands India’s price-sensitive yet technology-driven consumer base. Editors cited the model’s feature set, interior design and competitive pricing as key strengths.
VinFast’s strongest endorsement came at the Motorscribes Auto Awards 2025, where it secured a double win—Electric Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year, along with Electric Vehicle of the Year for the VF 7. The awards reflect both expert opinion and community feedback, offering a broader snapshot of how the brand is resonating in the market.
These wins add to a growing list of recognitions for VinFast in India, including awards for anticipation, design and disruption from platforms such as ABP Live News, Jagran Hi-Tech and Zee Media. Together, they suggest momentum building for a relatively new entrant in one of the world’s most competitive automotive landscapes.
Commenting on the recognition, VinFast India CEO Tapan Ghosh described the awards as validation of the company’s long-term approach. He noted that the focus remains on building manufacturing capabilities, strengthening services and creating an end-to-end electric mobility ecosystem rather than chasing short-term visibility.
Industry voices echoed that sentiment. Editors from ACKO Drive, GaadiWaadi and Motorscribes pointed to VinFast’s local manufacturing strategy as a differentiator—particularly its operational facility in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), Tamil Nadu. The plant is currently assembling the VF 6 and VF 7, with future expansion planned to include electric buses and two-wheelers, positioning it as a potential hub for EV manufacturing and employment generation.
Beyond products, VinFast is investing in the supporting architecture required for scale—charging infrastructure, financing partnerships, after-sales services and a circular battery value chain. Its 160-hectare manufacturing complex is set to expand by an additional 200 hectares, signalling long-term intent rather than a tentative market entry.
In a market where electric vehicle adoption is accelerating but still shaped by concerns around cost, infrastructure and reliability, VinFast’s recent recognition suggests it is beginning to bridge the gap between promise and proof. For India’s EV ecosystem, that may be just as significant as the awards themselves.
